Forum on Sustainable Energy for Central and North America (OAS/SICA) José María Blanco, BUN-CA Regional Director and PEER Regional Coordinator, participated in the Round Table on “Setting Policies to Advance Sustainable Energy Market Development”, which is part of the Forum on Sustainable Energy for Central and North America. The event was organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) together with the General Secretariat of the Central American Integration System (SICA) and took place in San Salvador, El Salvador, on December 11th, 2008 at the Real Intercontinental San Salvador Hotel.(Further information) Subregional Forum of the Central America, Mexico, and Dominican Republic Civil Society Kathya Fajardo, BUN-CA Technical Officer and PEER Director of Operations, participated in the Subregional Forum of the Central America, Mexico, and Dominican Republic Civil Society in preparing for the V Summit of the Americas: “Insuring the Future of Our Citizens by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security, and Environmental Sustainability.”
Implementation of Energy Monitoring and Energy Audits in Nicaragua In line with the Regional Project’s Work Plan implementation, the process of monitoring small hotels included in the BUN-CA Project portfolio has been started, and the first energy audits in the Hotel Sector are being performed. The purpose of these Energy Audits is to identify energy conservation opportunities that will allow them to get power consumption savings on their electric bill and reduce small greenhouse gases emissions. To this end, the Project technical staff has developed on a work assignment in the departments of Managua, León, Estelí, and Granada, in the week of December 08-12, 2008. |

Nicaragua Leadership for Women in the Central American Energy Sector Last December 01 and 02, BUN-CA participated in the seminar “Leadership for Women in the Central American Energy Sector”, organized by INCAE Business School in the framework of the “Women and Energy” Project that is being developed by the Center for Women’s Leadership and the Program on Coherence for a Sustainable Energy Policy, of INCAE. Research alternatives were sought at the Seminar with the purpose of gathering information on the existing link between gender, leadership, and professional success in Central American energy sector organizations. |
